Iceland

Part I

Story by NASTYA KFKS November 2nd, 2015

It was almost midnight when my plane landed on this mysterious isle. I was really excited – planed this day many times in my mind =__._.__=

While I was there I kept saying that it‘s not just a different planet, it‘s more than four different planets!

Iceland – the most epic place I’ve ever seen. While I was there I kept saying that it‘s not just a different planet, it‘s more than four different planets! Colours are so stunning and the fresh air drives you crazy. There are so many contrasts in this lands that you’re trying to save and resave it in your memory, to be double sure that you’ll remember it for the rest of your life.

Trip in three days around the Isle. day 1.

We drove to the nearest supermarket, bought stuff that we needed ( sleeping bags, food, things for grill and fire …) and took road #1. Decided to go through the island we changed a number of roads: #1, #32, and landscapes become more and more epic on #26 ( gravel road ). Gravel road really in good condition, you can easily make 90 by car.

Check online map with this route here: Icelandic Trip Map. In this post I show photos from segment H to B.

You’ll see many amazing lakes, small and big, great rivers and astonishing waterfalls. Palette of the environment goes quickly from very vivid to a rare pale mood, and shadows from clouds change that view every minute: you’ll be amazed for sure.

Lake Þórisvatn is outstanding, you just see this vast space and enjoying it with all it’s beauty. The largest lake of Iceland, it is a reservoir of a surface about 88 km² and uses the energy of the river Þjórsá, which comes down from the glacier Hofsjökull.

If you’re going this gravel road #26, more brilliance about this way that there are no one. You driving through the island and observe all this planets.

At the end of the day we found really cool place. Fabulous hills for our camp. One tent, two cars and very tasty grilled fish with vegetables + friendly fire.

I have to say it was such a cool wild rally on that gravel road from time to time!

If you’re going to Iceland in high season which are June, July, August, book all in advance. If not then in car service you can get manual transmission instead of auto for example. Our car was good 4x4 runner but only with cd player. And only one Eminem cd with 10 songs, when radio lost connection. At next point we got the Sigur Rós album. Now I know why they make this music: it is all about Iceland.
